When you search ‘woodburning stoves in Stockport’ on Google you’ll find Coalwood Heating Centre. But wood-burning stoves – and multifuel stoves – are just a part of what we do. A big part, yes, and how we began.
As an independent, family-run, HETAS-approved retailer for over 40 years we’ve supplied and installed high-quality, stylish wood-burning, multifuel, gas AND electric stoves and fires since 1982.
Customer Service is Everything
To succeed in a business for so long is proof of our customer service, specialist knowledge, installation expertise and quality products. Most of our work comes from recommendations and referrals. We will guide you through the maze of stoves and fuels available, from your first visit to your project’s completion. So, when our customers enquire about add-ons, or extras, it makes sense to continue our service. After all, we don’t want our customers struggling, or using someone who could let them down.
Unlike many other suppliers, and newer businesses, we offer a full, expert installation service for all of our wood-burning, multifuel, gas and electric stoves, from our recommended installers, so you know that your new stove has been fitted by a registered HETAS or Gas Safe engineer to current standards. Our installers can help redesign the chimney breast, line existing brick chimneys with our high-quality flue liners or repair chimney stacks. We can also supply hearths, mantels and beams. Even if your property doesn’t have a chimney, we can design a system for you.
More Than an Electric Fire
But back to what else we do, in addition to those ever-popular woodburning stoves and multifuel stoves. We also supply and install gas fires and electric fires. More than that, we can even design, supply and install bespoke media walls for the ultimate centrepiece, the perfect focal point for your home.
Televisions are increasingly an integral part of our living spaces, and the screens are bigger than ever. A TV is so much more than it used to be – with streaming services, music, and gaming all affording opportunities for family time. It stands to reason that how the television is displayed can make a huge difference to a room.
Make it a Media Wall
A custom media wall is the ideal solution and such media walls are more than just a glorified television cabinet. Done right, they’re a perfect focal point – adding attractive and practical storage space and display space and housing a superb new electric fire. Flickering flame effects bring a cosy and relaxing – therapeutic even – ambience which adds even more to your room’s focal point. Feature walls may have been around forever, but combining media walls with fireplaces is a rather more recent interior design trend.
A media wall done well incorporates bespoke stud wall frameworks to conceal messy cables whilst allowing access when needed, creates cohesive storage space such as shelves, cupboards and drawers, and attractively integrates a stylish electric fire. It’s the perfect way to seamlessly and stylishly dress a room with your TV, fireplace, soundbar or speakers, shelving and more into one smart installation.
What Do I Need to Know?
Here are a few frequently asked questions about our media walls:
Do I Need a Specific Media Wall Sized Fire and TV?
Your chosen TV and even fire size is all a matter of preference, but we will cheerfully advise on balance and perspective. It’s important to make sure the fire and TV complement each other. Most customers prefer the TV sited centrally, with storage above, below, on either side, or even all around. This will inform the available space for your television. Each unit is bespoke so we can work with what you have and – as far as possible - what you want.
Can We Accommodate my Soundbar or Playstation?
Simple answer here is yes, of course – but we need to know what you have. Sound bars or speakers are often housed in a recess above the TV, while gaming consoles and set-top boxes could live in a cupboard or on a dedicated shelf.
Can We Hide Away All the Messy Wires?
No doubt about it, leads and cables are an eyesore. The more appliances you have, the more cables there are and the more like the Spaghetti Junction your living room wall is. We’ll plan ahead and incorporate a hidden channel for all the necessary cabling. It may well be a good idea to add a couple of plug sockets within or near the media wall.
What’s the Best Fire for a Media Wall?
Aha, now you’re talking. We can work with you to select the perfect fire for you in terms of output and economy but also aesthetics and features.
Still not sure, or need to know more? Not a problem. Bring your questions to us, we will be happy to help and advise you in person. It’s what we do, and what we’ve done for over forty years - and counting.
