PRODUCTS & SERVICES
Rather than attempt to offer stoves of all levels of quality from every
manufacturer under the sun - as some in this field try to do - we prefer to
supply only top quality woodburning, multifuel, gas, and electric stoves from a
select number of well established, highly reputable, British and European
manufacturers, with
recognised brand names, whom we have dealt with for
decades.

We still have hundreds of models to offer, but as a customer, you have the
peace of mind of knowing that if, in many years time, you suddenly find
yourself in need of a replacement for a vital part for your stove which has
broken - for example a flue collar, door catch mechanism, air control, or even
a complete stove top; we can supply these promptly to order for the stoves we
sell. Naturally, we also keep stocks in our showroom of door glasses,
firebricks, and firebars, for most of the stoves we sell, as well as universal
spares and accessories such as rope seal and adhesive, glass cleaner,
moisture meters, stovepipe thermometers, etc.

Wood has never been an approved fuel for use in Smoke Control areas, and
although the authorities have tended to turn a bit of a blind eye in the past,
that appears to be changing, as we hear growing numbers of stories of neigh-
bours reporting smoky chimneys to their local authorities for investigation.

Now there is a new generation of exceptionally clean burning DEFRA-
approved stoves, which are legally approved for burning wood in Smoke
Control areas
. Almost all of our multifuel showroom display stoves are now
DEFRA-approved models, with more being added as new approvals are
granted and space permits. Even if you don't live in a Smoke Control area,
they are still well worth a closer look, for the extra heat from burning the
smoke, and the reduction in chimney deposits, and they are not necessarily
any more expensive than non-approved stoves of a similar quality.

If you have no chimney at all, or if your brick chimney stack has been
removed and roofed over, we have ways of safely installing a stove for you,
where less experienced installers might give you a blank look!

Many customers seem determined to buy a stove which is far too big for their
needs - just because it fits their idea of what might look right in their fireplace
- blissfully unaware of the huge volumes of smoke, the horrible sticky smelly
mess inside the chimney, the chimney fire risk, and possible structural
damage that can ensue from burning insufficiently seasoned wood on an
over-sized stove. We go to a lot of trouble to ensure that our customers have
the right size stove for the job, plus, every customer gets a free copy of our
own unique Beginner's Guide, packed with useful information, hints and tips,
including step-by-step instructions on how to light a fire, and a problem
solving guide covering the answers to all the after-sales questions we have
been asked over the years. As a result of the foregoing, we are very proud of
the fact that after-sales problems, or complaints, are very rare indeed, plus
regular repeat business and word-of-mouth recommendations mean that we
don't need to put huge adverts in the local press every week, passing the
savings on in sensible prices to our customers!
